When your pockets are full, it pays to share. This was a reality for Beluga Foundation founder and CEO, Brendan McAssey. His ship had come in, and he wanted to make meaningful change to causes close to his own heart.

Inspired by his lifelong experience of disability, informed by his sister, Michelle, and his father, Danny, Brendan is determined to bridge support gaps for people living with a disability, champion neurodiversity, break new ground in stroke research and inspire fellow humans to pay it forward when they can.

Stroke is one of the biggest causes of disability in Australia and is responsible for more premature deaths than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. Improving outcomes for stroke patients and their families is a focus for the Beluga Foundation, inspired by our founder’s loss of his father at 56 to stroke.

To date, Beluga Foundation has donated $7 million to fund human trials of ground-breaking stroke treatment through La Trobe University and will continue to do so.
